There are a number of cleaning machines on the market today. The categories of machines include: steam cleaner, pressure washers, carpet cleaners, and vacuum cleaners.
The functionality of these machines is often straight forward. Carpet cleaners clean carpets. Steam cleaners use high temperature steam to clean surfaces. Pressure washers use high pressure levels and other features to clean, and so on. However, confusion arises when these main categories are broken down, as with low flow steam cleaners and steam pressure washers. The following are some notable differences between the two types of cleaning machines.
Functional Differences
Both types of machines clean hard surfaces, such as floors and walls. A floor steam cleaner sprays hot steam onto the surface to dissolve dirt, stain, and other impurities. Then the dissolved residues are extracted using a vacuum attached to the steam cleaner. When paired with antibacterial technology, these devices can also eliminate bacteria or other microorganisms. On the other hand, steam pressure washers pump high temperature steam at high pressure levels onto surfaces to blast away impurities. The use of high pressure levels makes these machines ideal for heavy-duty degreasing and other difficult applications, while low flow steam cleaners do not offer sufficient pressure to handle this type of task.
Specification Differences
The main difference between the specifications of these machines is the pressure level. While the pressure washers are available with pressures as high as 8000 psi, floor steam cleaners top out at 150 psi. However, steam cleaning machines do not require high pressure levels as they rely on the ultra-high temperature steam up to 360°F for their cleaning power.
